Spelling Practice

Almost every week our class is responsible for completing a 2-5-8 Menu for Spelling.  Students are given the opportunities to practice their Spelling words in a way that they choose. I have found this to be a great alternative to me assigning a Spelling assignment each day of the week.  Students are allowed to pick their activities and find the activities that they like the best!  I wanted to let you know about a few great links that I found that can help our students create Printable Word Searches and Crossword Puzzles.  This is a great way for students to practice their Spelling words and their computer skills!  Please check out the great links located on the right-hand side of our blog and below!

Newsletter Notes Nov. 19

Switching Back to Science-

This week we covered the 3 main States of Matter. They are: Solid, Liquid, and Gas. We found that it is easiest to think of the 3 states in regards to water. There is the ice, liquid water, and water vapor. We also talked about measuring mass, volume, and looked into density.

Next Wednesday we will take our Chapter Test over this material. Students have a study guide that we began filling out today. Please help your student prepare for our test. Thanks!

November Awards Assembly– Wisdom

Our class voted and the award winners were: Matthew, Neva, Xander, Brendan, Brent, and Alex W.

Thanksgiving Break-

We will be dismissing early on Wed. Nov. 24 at 11:30. We will not have school on Nov. 25 or 26.

Writing-

This week we wrote and revised/edited our legends.

No Spelling 2-5-8 Menu-

Next week we will not be having a 2-5-8 Menu. However, we will be taking the Unit 9 Word and Skill Test on Tuesday. I have assigned the Unit 9 Take Home Task to our class today. It will be due on Tuesday. It is all about irregular verbs. For example, the past tense verb, did, comes from the present tense verb, do.

Comfy Reading Day-

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, we will be having Comfy Reading Day. Students are allowed to bring a pillow or stuffed animal, and a small blanket to read with. They may also bring along slippers to wear in the classroom. We will begin reading right away in the morning! Let me know if you have any questions!

Scholastic Online Book Orders

Online Ordering Information

Web address: scholastic.com/bookclubs
Class Activation Code: HB2QM

Dear Parents,
Now it’s easier than ever to find the perfect books for your child—shop our NEW online Book Clubs Web site. Choose from a much-wider selection of books than in the printed flyer. Plus, you can send your orders directly to me online and use your credit card to pay.

Best of all, we earn a FREE book for the classroom library every time a parent places an order online.

It’s so simple! Here’s how it works:
-SIGN UP at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. On the parent page, click the “Register” button in the “First Time Here?” section. Register for your own user name and password. When prompted, enter the one-time Class Activation Code shown above. This unique code ensures that your order is sent to me.
-SELECT the books you’d like to order—choose from thousands of titles—many more than in our monthly flyers.
-SEND your order to me online by the due date and your child’s books will be delivered directly to my classroom.

Ordering online is fast, easy, and secure.
Of course, you can still order using the form from the printed flyer. But why not see for yourself how convenient it is to order online?

Thank you,
Mrs. Nawrot
